Befriending calls / COVID support

Royal Voluntary Service

Since COVID-19 began,  we are not limiting support to 12 weeks.

Support includes:

- Telephone ‘safe and well’/befriending calls

- Assisted shopping and prescription collections (depending on volunteer availability)

- Garden Visits.

Our befriending calls can last five minutes to over an hour dependent on what the client prefers (i.e. a simple check in call to ensure the client is safe and well or a chat). We hope to continue our social distancing garden visits/doorstep chats throughout the winter, weather dependent.

Services are aimed at reducing social isolation and loneliness in vulnerable people aged 55 and over who:

• live alone

• have little or no family living nearby who can provide support

• do not have a network of other support in place.

Can assist carers who are at risk of social isolation through their caring role, do not offer respite support.

Prefer a completed referral form or if referring from Simply connect can we add additional information. Make aware of any safeguarding issues.
